A: They are two halves of the same business. The kennels are where we train, breed, board, and sell dogs, for companions, personal protection, or for our K9 certified security officers. The security half of the business consists of licensed security officers we contract out to other companies.
Q: What is the difference between the Saturday classes and the in-kennel training?
A: Saturday classes require much more outside work to get your dog to the same level of obedience. In-kennel training is more intense and gives our trainers plenty of time to work with your dog one-on-one to ensure that s/he performs the commands correctly and without question.
Q: What will I need to bring with me when I am having my dog boarded and/or trained there?
A: You will need to bring food, a copy of CURRENT vaccination records and payment in advance (cash or check only, credit cards not accepted).
Q: Am I allowed to check out the kennels before having my dog trained/boarded there?
A: Yes, you are more than welcome to stop by any time during our business hours. We are open 9am-5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and 9am-Noon Wednesday and Saturday. Appointments are appreciated (to be sure we have plenty of time to devote to answering your questions and showing you around), but they aren't required.
Q: If I choose the in-kennel training, can I come visit my dog?
A: Of course! We love to have owners come out and visit their dogs.
Q: How old should my dog be to attend training classes?
A: 4 months to 2 years old is the best window to get your dog trained.
Q: Do you have any breed restrictions for boarding and/or training?
A: No. All breeds are welcome; both big and small!
Q: What method of dog training is used?
A: Praise training, which means getting petted and praised for what is done correctly. Encouraging the dog’s normal instincts and confidence.
Q: What does $15/day for boarding get me?
A: Your dog will get a private indoor/outdoor run (heated in winter) cleaned at least once daily, a private outdoor run or tie out (whichever you prefer), a mat to sleep on, fed and medicated according to your specifications, stainless steel food and water bowls cleaned daily, and lots of love!
Q: How often do you hold security training courses?
A: Typically they are the last Thursday and Friday of each month, with the exception of holidays. Check our Security Officer Training page for more details or give us a call at 423-477-2810 for the most up-to-date information.
